Faith without humility is just noise. Faith alone will not help a Christian if work isn't applied. These works vary depending on circumstances surrounding one's faith. James 2:17, "Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." Humility is one out of the numerous works of Faith. In this article, with scriptural proofs, we are going to be looking at lack of Humility as one of the reasons Christians don't get good results practicing Faith.
There is no amount of wealth, position of power, educational accolades and fame achieved in this world that can be useful in the kingdom of God. Anything that exalts a man against his neighbour is not accepted by God. Humility is the quality of having a modest or low view of ones importance. In Christianity, Humility is when you control whatever makes you proud for the sake of the Cross.
Jesus Christ whom we follow wants us to wear His personality. In the book of Philippians 2:5-8, Apostle Paul said in a letter, "Let this mind be in you, which also in Christ Jesus: 6. Who, been in form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7. But made Himself no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8. And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
Christians are to carry Jesus' full personality to possess the image of God. The Trinity is a living proof that Jesus is God. Jesus came as a flesh, knowing these facts He yet humbled Himself. The position didn't get to His head. He served as a servant, He endured the shame, He endured the contradictions of sinners against Himself and even humbled Himself before death.
How bad are we ready to renew our minds and transform into the likeness of Christ? Humility is a passport to the kingdom of God. According to Mathew 18:4, no matter what position of power you attain, if you don't bring yourself down low as a little child you don't have a place in heaven. A Christian without humility will be denied salvation.

Not only salvation. Proverbs 22:4 says, "By Humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honor, and Life." Pride comes before a fall, the scripture says in humility comes a wealthy life. Humility will lessen your adversaries and give you a well secured progressive life.
Every Christian wants a share of His grace when they share the grace. Unfortunately for the proud, the grace is shared only with the humble. James 4:6b, "...God resisted the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble". Let's look at this, why do you beg God for his grace when you are not humble? So you selfishly want to receive from God to oppress others. The victims of your oppressions are humans too, they have the same rights as yours. They might even have deeper relationship with God than you. And God will be like, " you want all these things so you can suffer my own humble people".
These are the reasons tables turn, where humble people will be lifted and the proud will be demoted. James 4:10, "humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He shall lift you up". Today many Christians seek promotions and upliftment in their life and career but they don't lower their pride so they can be lifted.
Have you ever thought about pride as a reason behind unanswered prayers? 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Humility is a Christian culture, God requires us to be humble so that we can find Him whenever we seek Him. He is specific about His own people, that is, if the world do not care about humility His own people should.
Psalm 25:9, " the meek He will guide in judgement: and the meek will He teach His way". Commit to memory, the way of God is mysterious. These mysteries are revealed to those who humble themselves. If you are a Christian and yet not humble, you haven't met God.

According to a report by Vatican news on the 20th June 2025. Pope Leo XIV emphasizes that humility is the way of Christ, the path of the Church, and the heart of the Gospel. Pope Leo XIV has made humility a defining theme of his papacy. In his first Mass with the College of Cardinals, he called on Church leaders to “make oneself small so that Christ may be known and glorified.” For him, humility is not just a virtue but the proper attitude of anyone who follows Christ. He believes that the Church should reflect Christ’s humility in its leadership, service, and witness.
Coming from the Augustinian tradition, Pope Leo teaches that humility begins with listening. True authority, he says, comes from being attentive to the Holy Spirit through the voices of others. He encourages leaders not to dominate, but to walk alongside people, serving with gentleness and patience. Those who know him speak of his quiet character and simple way of life. He is described as peaceful, approachable, and free from self-importance. His humility is not for display—it shows in how he carries himself, how he speaks, and how he leads.
Humility is an important virtue for a Christian, it creates a closer relationship with God, a wealthy and healthy life, and also grants salvation.
