ZAYO Officially Rebrands as ZAYOBOY

Nigerian artist ZAYO has announced a major rebrand, officially changing his stage name to ZAYOBOY.

The change follows years of confusion on streaming platforms, where fans struggled to find his music due to another Latino artist performing under the same name. “ZAYOBOY has always been me,” he explained. “It’s my street name, my handle across social media, and now it’s my official identity. This way, fans can find me without confusion.”

Born and raised in the trenches of Ibadan, ZAYOBOY’s story is one of grit and cultural depth. He grew up listening to Yoruba music icons such as Barrister, Ebenezer Obey, Haruna Ishola, and Yusuf Olatunji — influences that shaped his love for rhythm and storytelling. After years as a pure rapper influenced by legends like Dagrin, he has since evolved into a versatile Afro Hip-hop/AfroPop artist, blending rap and melody seamlessly.
His career breakthrough came in 2013, when he won the Koga Open House Reality TV Competition out of nearly 5,000 contestants. That victory earned him a professional deal with Koga Entertainment, where he collaborated with industry leaders such as Masterkraft, Samklef, Puffy Tee, and DJ Klem, while sharing stages with Olamide, Wizkid, Davido, Wande Coal, and more.

The rebrand comes as ZAYOBOY releases his latest single, “OGO OMO” (Glorious Child) featuring Yung Efissy — a track inspired by personal struggles and triumphs. “Every glorious child will fight battles, but God will always come through. OGO OMO is a vibe for everyone who has struggled and is now winning,” he says.
With a new EP on the way — featuring collaborations with Fola, Harteez, and others — ZAYOBOY says this new chapter is about consistency, professionalism, and embracing his brand. “I’m no longer boxed in as just a rapper. I’m an artist, a brand, and a Glorious Child stepping into the next level.”
